Pool

• Please arrive between 5-10 minutes before the scheduled program. Participants will be able to enter the locker room 5 minutes before the reserved program starts to give prior swim participants time to vacate the locker rooms. 

• It is recommended to bring a lock for a locker if you plan to use one or bring all your belongings onto the pool deck with you.
   
• Bathrooms are available in the hallway and the locker rooms for use during the programs.
   
• Spectators are asked to sit in the balcony seating area.
   
• Anyone with a communicable disease, or who has been ill with vomiting or diarrhea within the last two weeks, are prohibited from using the pool. Please call the pool for a program refund.
   
• Goggles may be used for Pre-School Level 3 & for level 2 participants and higher. 

• Face masks are not permitted during any program.
   
• If a lesson participant has long hair, it is recommended they wear a swim cap or pull it in a ponytail or braid, so it stays out of their face.
   
• Please note, swim tests are required for individuals under 18 years to enjoy the diving well. The swim test consists of swimming 25 yards front stroke (with your face in the water) and treading water for a minute.

Family Open Swim is a recreational time for families and community members to use the pool. 

• General Admission - $5.00
• Senior Admission - $4.00
   
• Children 5 years & younger are Free
   
• Children under 6 years old and all non-swimmers must be accompanied in the water by a paying adult.
   
• Children 6-13 years old must be accompanied onsite by an adult.
  Children in flotation devices are considered non-swimmers. Only two children under 6 & other non-swimmers are allowed per adult and will need to stay within arm’s reach of the adult they are accompanied by.
   
• The number of admissions for Family Open Swim will be dependent on additional programs also using the pool. For groups of more than six swimmers, please call the pool in advance to make sure we can accommodate.

*Cash, checks, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, & Discover) are accepted. Credit cards will have an additional $1.25 convenience fee per transaction. Once a program starts refunds are not given.

Lap Swimming lanes are 25 yards in length. They are available for community members for exercise.

Limited lanes are available during Family Open Swim Times

• Class Size: Preschool levels and parent/child classes are limited to 5 children per instructor. Parent-child classes must have one adult in the water per child. Learn to Swim levels 1-6 are limited to 6 children per instructor.
  
  Classes are planned and well organized – if you would like to speak with your child’s instructor, please do so before or after class, not during.
   
• Student Absent: We do not offer make-up days if a student is absent.
   
• Placement In Classes: Knowing your child’s ability is your responsibility. We will verbally help place your child, OR you may come to a Family Open Swim and ask a supervisor to evaluate your child. Evaluations during program times are free. An adult may be asked to get in the water with their child for the evaluation.
  
  If a child is placed incorrectly and there is no additional space in a different level, a refund will be given. You purchase the spot you sign up for.
   
• Slow Progress: Student progress varies depending on age, strength, learning ability, etc. Teaching young children to swim takes time.  As a beginner they must first overcome fear/anxiety and build confidence.  If you feel your child needs extra practice come to family open swim to practice skills with your child. 

Please note at registration, not all levels will be held at all times.

Designed to help young children become comfortable in and around the water which lays the foundation for future aquatic skills. If available, this class will be held in the activity/therapy pool. Swim diapers are required if not potty trained.

Pre-requisites are not required

The Learn to Swim program is designed to help participants achieve maximum success. 

Learn-to-Swim courses are based on a logical six-level progression that helps swimmers of varying ages and abilities develop their water safety, survival and swim skills.

Level 1 - Intro to Water Skills: Pre-requisites: none.

Focus is on helping participants feel comfortable in the water while building swimming readiness.

Level 2 – Fundamental Aquatic Skills: Pre-requisites: perform 5 FULL bobs with blowing bubbles, back float for 5 seconds, and front glide for 2 body lengths.

Focus is on building proper body position and coordination of arms and legs in order to perform various strokes, rotary breathing and treading water.

Level 3 – Stroke Development: Pre-requisites: swim 5 body lengths of front stroke and elementary stroke, perform 5 rotary breathing bobs, and tread water for 15 seconds.

Focus is on coordinating breathing to the side while swimming front crawl as well as learning various other kicks.

Level 4 – Stroke Improvement: Pre-requisites: swim 15 yards front crawl with side breathing and elementary stroke, 15 yards of scissor kick, dolphin kick and breaststroke kick and tread water for 1 minute.

Focus is on building on skills previously learned through guided practice.

Level 5 – Stroke Refinement: Pre-requisites: swim 25 yards of front crawl, and elementary stroke while demonstrating open turns, swim 15 yards backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke, and tread water for 2 minutes.

Focus is on providing further coordination with refinement of swim strokes while increasing swimming distance with the use of flip turns.

Level 6 – Fitness Swimmer: Pre-requisites: swim 50 yards of front crawl and elementary stroke, swim 25 yards of backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke, demonstrate flip turns while swimming and tread water for 5 minutes.

Focus is on continued refinement of the strokes so participants swim them with ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances while incorporating the use of a pace clock and skill sets

Throughout these three levels children are taught basic aquatic safety and swimming skills, all the while increasing their comfort level in and around the water.

Level 1: Pre-requisites: none.

Focus is on introducing the child to the aquatic environment while helping gain basic aquatic skills.

Level 2: Pre-requisites: back float for 3 seconds – front glide for two body lengths.

Focus is on developing more comfort in and around the water while gaining more independence.

Level 3: Pre-requisites: front and back glide for two body lengths, back float for 15 seconds, swim on front 3 body lengths.

Focus is on gaining basic swim propulsive skills.
